Birch Lake Annual Membership Meeting

Our Annual Membership meeting will take place on Saturday, July 26 - Rain or shine - beginning at 4:30 PM in the pavilion at the Hackensack Lakeside Park. (If the weather is wet or threatening we will move into the Hackensack Community Center - 110 3rd Street, Hackensack.)

We will begin serving hot dogs and hamburgers  at 4:30 PM and the meeting will begin about 5.  Prize drawings will happen after the business meeting and you must be present to win.

We’re thrilled to announce that this year’s Grand Prizes are two inflatable paddleboards, generously donated by Jim’s Trailer Plus Marine! Each paddleboard will be awarded separately - so double the chances to win!

Jim’s Trailer Plus Marine has been a proud part of the Hackensack community since 2001, and now the second generation of this family-run business is expanding their services even further. In addition to expert trailer and boat services, they now offer a variety of fun lake products—including paddleboards, swim rafts, and paddleboats!

We’re incredibly grateful for their ongoing support of the Birch Lake Association and our mission to protect and enjoy our beautiful lake. Be sure to check them out - and maybe thank them for helping make this summer even more exciting!

Hackensack Progress

There’s a lot of great progress happening in Hackensack this summer! From the Highway 371 improvement project to the renovation of the Little Library, these efforts will make a big difference in both our town and lake life - and as a lake association, we’re proud to support them however we can.

We were recently asked by the Hackensack Parks Committee to help spread the word about their current project, and we’re happy to share it with you. With so many of our members in town this Saturday, we thought this would be the perfect time to pass it along! Keep an eye out - you won’t want to miss the opportunity to learn more and get involved!

Help Us Reimagine Hackensack’s Lakeside Park!
Your support will build a stronger, more inclusive community space.

The City of Hackensack Parks Committee is raising funds to renovate Lakeside Park - the heart of our downtown. Your donation will serve as a foundation for matching grant applications, helping us secure grant funding to bring these improvements to life.

At our Community Summit on January 11, 2025, residents voiced their top priorities:

- Replace and update the 30+ year-old playground for improved safety and accessibility
- Add a
bandshell to support events like the Friday Lakeside Concert Series
- Improve
restroom access and overall park inclusivity and accessibility

The Hackensack Parks Committee was formed by the City Council to guide these efforts. We are responsible for:

  • Optimizing the use and function of City parks

  • Prioritizing and recommending enhancements

  • Managing fundraising and community outreach

The City of Hackensack has fiscal responsibility for the committee.

We need your support. Every donation brings us closer to transforming our parks into spaces that serve all ages and abilities. Please mail contributions to City of Hackensack Park Committee, PO Box 490, Hackensack, MN 56452, or drop them off at Rendezvous Brewing.

2nd Try - Birch Lake Memorial Garden Fall Clean Up

Yikes! Now that fall is upon us, it's time to tuck the garden away for the winter. There are a lot of weeds to pull and deadhead. We'll meet at 10 am on Saturday, October 14th to work on it. If you can come and help, we'd really appreciate it. Bring your gloves and gardening tools, and we'll do it quickly.

Should mother nature decide otherwise or if you're unable to make it on the designated day, we encourage you to head over in your spare time. Even a few minutes spent pulling weeds or doing some deadheading can make a significant difference.

Thanks for your help!

The Boat Parade Theme this year will be ‘Birch Lake Wildlife’! Gather your friends and family, spark your imagination, and let it run wild, and get ready to create a jaw-dropping display that will have everyone cheering.

Whether you choose to go for a realistic portrayal of your favorite animal or put your own creative spin on things, the Birch Lake Wildlife boat parade promises to be a blast for all ages. So, grab your sunscreen, put on your captain's hat, and join us for a day of fun and festivities on the water!

This year’s July 4th BLA Boat Parade theme is “Birch Lake Wildlife”

Boats and pontoons will begin in Little Birch at 1 PM. This year we will meet near the entrance to the “back bay” on the south side of Little Birch because we have placed a loon platform on the south side of the channel.

Birch Lake Association Garden Party

Help Needed to Clean up the Birch Lake Association Garden

Dear Members of the Birch Lake Association,

As we head into the summer season, it is time to start preparing our community garden for the warmer months ahead. The Birch Lake Association Garden is a beautiful space that brings joy to all who visit it, but it requires maintenance and care to keep it looking its best.

To that end, we are organizing a garden cleanup party on May 27 from 9-12. We are looking for volunteers to help with tasks such as weeding, pruning, and mulching. No prior gardening experience is necessary; we just need your enthusiasm and willingness to pitch in.

We would greatly appreciate your help in making the Birch Lake Association Garden a beautiful and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy. If you are interested in joining us, please let us know by adding your name, email and phone number to this list. We will be in touch.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Shirley Johnson

Birch Lake Association Garden Committee Member
